Biography
David Detrick graduated from the University of Michigan in 1970 with a degree in Music Education. He taught instrumental and classroom music for nineteen year in the Michigan Public Schools. He has been giving private music instruction in piano, brass instruments, flute, clarinet, and percussion for nearly forty years.
For two years he worked as section coach in brass and percussion with the South Bend Youth Symphony Orchestra, where he also has had three students who were principals in their sections. For the last two years, his students have received first division ratings in the Solo and Ensemble Festival in the public schools.
For eleven years, Mr. Detrick worked for Walter Piano Company in Elkhart, Indiana, where he learned tuning and piano technology. For the past four years, he has been self employed in teaching and piano tuning and repair.
